PROJECT PROFILE

Negosyo* 2000 is a livelihood project of the Baby Jaycee Batch I for a Barangay that provides training ground for homemakers. The project aims to help educate and train the unemployed, to enable them to possibly start a sustainable source of income.

"If you give a man fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for life."

Baby Jaycees Batch I meet with the officers during one of their project meetings.

The project aims to have a long-term impact on the livelihood and well-being of the participants of the program. It is the hope of the batch that possible resources of income will be initiated by the participants at the end of the training program.

Negosyo 2000 also was aimed to achieve greater community relations, and increase the awareness of the importance of "sariling-sikap"** within the community. Through the project, the Bai Lawanen Jaycees will be able to continue its thrust of realizing the sixth tenet of the Jaycee Creed - "that service to humanity is the best work of life."

The project was in cooperation with DSWD and Barangay Camaman-an, Cagayan de Oro City.

negosyo* - Filipino word for business
